Abstract: Vibration monitoring is an essential tool for equipment and plant maintenance in many industries. It is possible to extend the maintenance intervals, if vibration is monitored closely. The objective of the paper is to develop a non-contact type vibration analyzer which can be used to develop a continuous monitoring of vibrations using neural networks. The vibration monitoring system consists of sensor array & holder, data acquisition board and data processing tool. In the proposed system, the Gaussian beam of laser source illuminates an array of photo detectors, which is reflected from the system undergoing vibration. These time varying optical powers are input to an artificial neural network based vibration monitoring system which maps the power distributions of the laser beam...........

Abstract: Objective is to study the effectiveness of a tuned Linear Quadratic Gaussian (LQG) controller for the active vibration suppression of random excitation on a smart beam.Aluminium beam with surface bonded PZT patches which are used both as sensor and actuator based on location.A group of PZT patches at the root of the beam were assumed as actuators in bimorph configuration and a single patch as sensor on the tip. LQG algorithm, the result of a modern state-space technique, was used in order to design a dynamic optimal regulator...........

Title | : | LBM Simulation and Analytical Validation of Incompressible Couette and Poiseuille flows |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | D. Arumuga Perumal |
Abstract: The Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) came in the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) field as a tool for research, but its importance lies in its various areas of incompressible fluid flows. Owing to its excellent numerical method and kinetic theory boundary conditions it plays a vital role as a simulation technique for understanding incompressible fluid flow physics. In the present work, the study is extended to incompressible couette flow and poiseuille flow problems using the D2Q9 lattice model to gain some experience in the application of LBM. First, the couette flow is studied in some details with different lattice sizes and relaxation times. After having thus established the credibility of the code and the method including boundary conditions, LBM is then used to investigate the poiseuille flow. It is seen that, the present LBM results are excellent agreement with analytical results.

Title | : | Effective Recycling and Use of Wood Carving Waste in Wood Industry |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Jijin I || Rinitha P |
Abstract: Composites based on natural fibre reinforcement have generated wide research and engineering interest in the last few decades due to their small density, high specific strength, low cost, light weight, recyclability and biodegradability and has earned a special category of green composite. This article reviews the reports based on wooden waste using different fibre as fillers and reinforcements. Various processing methods and conditions like compression moulding, heat treatments are used in the composites productions. Manufacturing industry produces large amount of waste throughout the year. Most of the time these waste ends up in landfills disturbing environmental.............

Title | : | An Ecofriendly Cooling for Car Cabin |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | P.Vaisakh || A Ramaraju |
Abstract: An innovative exhaust-heat-powered solid adsorption air conditioning system with activated carbon-ammonia as working pair is designed for providing air-conditioning for a diesel passenger car. Two adsorber bed or regenerator is used in the system with two condensers to obtain continuous cooling. Experiments on the laboratory prototype have been carried out and a mean cooling of 167 KJ is obtained when the evaporator temperature shows a drop of about 4ºC. The influences of some operating conditions on the system performance are analyzed by experiments.
